Calibration Process: Have the camera seated in the holding spot in the spool. Go into the Menu and scroll down to the on screen display. Hit the OK button and then scroll down to turn the OSD off. Once the direction and temp are off the screen scroll back up and turn the display back on. Once the system starts calibrating, spin the whole system in a circle (doesn’t matter clockwise or counter clockwise) until it says ok and then the direction should display on the screen again.
Additional Calibration tips:
>Slowly rotating the camera a few times during power up will assist in calibration. Ensure that the camera is in the position it will be used when it is calibrated.
>To achieve calibration. be sure that the camera is in a a level horizontal position. Up or down angle is not as important but it should not tilt right or left.
>Holding the camera head near the monitor may interfere with the compass operation.
>Using the camera inside or near a large metal building may interfere with the compass operation.
>If the camera is having difficulty reading, it will stay with a previous direction longer. If you could watch the degree reading it would likely be fluctuating rapidly. The firmware is translating that to a letter heading. If it is not stable it will likely not change its previous reading.
>Please keep in mind that the compass is for reference and not for actual navigation.
